Top Reggae Groups

Throughout my musical career I have been influenced by many great artists. There are those who sing out in rebellion and those who wish to spread love all over the world.
I have compiled my list of top reggae groups based on what I feel they have contributed to the field of reggae music.

Now this list is not exhaustive so feel no way if it is missing somebody that you feel should be on it.
Let me know if you agree with my choices so far and look out for the new entries soon to come.

If you had to make a top ten list of reggae groups, who would you have on it?

In no particular order, I proudly present:

ROYAL REGGAE GROUPS

Mighty Diamonds

Formed

Without a shadow of a doubt the Mighty Diamonds are one of the foundation reggae groups. They started out in the early seventies and have kept the fire burning up until now! What a fabulous history. They have created beautiful harmonies and fantastic songs. They have the most energetic stage performance you are likely to see . I could go on for ever about this group.

The  Heptones

Formed

The Heptones are arguably the best rocksteady group of their era. With so many hits like ‘Fatty Fatty’, ‘Country Boy’, ‘Pretty Looks’ I could go on and on and on. The Heptones also had one of the greatest bass players Leroy Sibbles. Leroy continues to perform worldwide.

The Paragons, all I can say is what a group! Now I won’t name any members of the group. I’ll leave it to you to work out who the artistes were. The Paragons had a string of great reggae hits. If you’re a reggae fan then you’ll know most of them. If you don’t, then I strongly suggest you should check them out.

The Blackstones

Formed

Once again some of my personal bredrin’s from the UK. These brothers just love to sing. You can feel their passion when they sing. The Blackstones have some of the best cover versions of many great reggae songs both past and present. They continue to perform live regularly.

Quest

Formed

These bredrin’s are personal friends of mine. They are UK based but their sound has that unique Jamaican flavour. The kings in Quest make up some of the best reggae vocalists in the UK. I have been honoured to do a number of shows together with Quest. The one thing I noticed straightaway is the positive reaction they get from their audiences. I wish Quest the very best in the future.
